Local Mechanics

While we follow the core rulebook and other official National Dystopia Rising produced content, you may see a few rules and skill calls that are unique to DR:TX as well. You can find our published list of custom local mechanics and skills currently in play, available here on our website in advance of each event.

The National DR team has also released a number of official supplementary design documents you can find available in the links below, and they update on the DR Forums with new information as it is released for live play.

  • Foam Projectile Guide - This doc outlines approved NERF-style ammunition that can be used for ranged weapons in our game.

  • Genre Guide - This doc summarizes and explains the themes and visual design cues you can expect to find in our world.

  • Technology Guide - This doc outlines in more detail the level of technology that exists in the world of Dystopia Rising. DR:TX has a slightly different level of technology in our setting, as described in our “What’s Different about Texas?” section of our website.

  • Blueprint Design Document - This doc explains some philosophies behind how blueprints are designed and includes a few updated rules that are used in newer blueprint releases.

  • Blueprint Change Log - As blueprints are updated throughout the network, major changes to be aware of can be found on this page.

  • Lexicon - This is a list of common abilities, keywords, and skills that don’t really exist in the DR Corebook, but that you might see in play in any networked game.

  • FAQ & Errata - The DR Rulebook, much like many gaming publications, has some flaws and mistakes in it. Companies often can’t or won’t reprint a book once it’s been released for final printing, so we need to rely on Errata and FAQ docs to fill in the gaps for mistakes in the book. This page collects any major clarifications that have been made at a national level.
