Enter: Submarine Modules

A Behemoth of Psitech and Steel

The Blackfish skims the silt of the lakebed like a megaton sandshark and you sit at its helm. The featureless, brown-black water moves invisibly around you as you pass through its depths. You are responsible for steering this under-yacht to its destination, without joining the throng of wrecks that bloom out of the darkness as you sluice along. At the bottom of Lake Bravo is the oldest morgue of them all, particulate corpses suspended in open water; a raw and gaping Cicatrix.

That’s right! This month, during the events of Beyond the Horizon your character may have the opportunity to explore the treacherous depths of Lake Bravo ensconced in steel and psinar. These specialty delves will be available this month and, assuming we enjoy them, will return under the right plot conditions.

So! In order to provide you with the right tools to make the reasonable choices for you, I’m going to lay out how these modules will work, and some of the Zone of Mechanics you’ll interact with during play.

Fundamentals of Play

  • Rounds are about 30 seconds long, and timed by a Guide tasked with running the scene.

  • Each LC takes a Seat before the module begins. There are between 3 and 5 possible Seats an LC can occupy in a Submarine Mod, each with their own discreet role to play during the scene.

  • The LCs are tasked with achieving an Objective in the dark waters of Lave Bravo, and then returning to port alive. There is a possibility for character death if the LCs face catastrophic failure in the depths. But great reward for the brave sailors who return triumphant.

Seats and Roles

  • The Pilot’s Seat is where the LC who is responsible for declaring the movements and Maneuvers of the Blackfish sits.

  • The Navigator’s Seat is where the LC is who responsible for the Psinar Map and the observation and declaration of threats and geography, as well as stealth operations, sits.

  • The Engineer’s Seat is where the LC who is responsible for maintaining the Hull Value and overall integrity of the Blackfish’s Engine and Crystal System sits.

  • The Gunner’s Seat* is where the LC who is responsible for the Blackfish’s Onboard Torpedo Suite and military behaviors sits.

  • The Researcher’s Seat* is where the LC who is responsible for operating the Mechanical, Telescoping Phalanges welded to the underside of the Blackfish’s enormous chassis sits.

* These Seats will be researchable but not available at Game-On

Full Ruleset and Mechanics For Play

Here’s a link to the extended ruleset for you own use. This is a gentle reminder that we are playtesting this content for the first time during this event.

Below are 3 of the 5 Zone of Mechanics associated with this module style you’ll see this weekend. The last two are the result of research effort and will be featured live at game after they are unlocked.
