Other Antagonists

These are notably unique antagonists that may be found in and around our settlement.

oxkiller alliance

Location: Oxkiller Territories, Bravado

The Oxkiller Alliance is comprised of the former Antler Tribe and Oxkiller Tribe, two martial Natural One and Tainted clans that followed the former Tribes Disparate two years ago. With the death of Queen Jasper, and the formation of the new San Saba Republic, the Oxkillers abandoned their former allies in disgust at the changes they saw as weak.

Rumors suggest the former leaders of the Oxkiller Alliance, Prince Shale and Lord Hush, died in a power struggle last year. Now, a new figure has emerged from the warring tribes to unite them with a singular purpose and passion — the Breaker of Crowns. Under her guidance, the Oxkiller Alliance has become a new and present danger to any that live in the Lone Star.

  • Oxkiller Thugs - These dangerous foes will be deadly warriors of the Landsmen tribes, but they rely more on their numbers to be a danger. These Thugs will be the most common enemy you’ll face during the war.

  • Oxkiller Assassins - The ruthlessness of the Breaker of Crowns and the Oxkillers includes the ability to disrupt their foe with tactical, murderous attacks from within your ranks. Assassins will be stealthy and dangerous foes, capable of flanking and dispatching lone targets with ease.

  • Oxkiller Zealots - The faith of the Tribe of Seasons runs deep in the Alliance, particularly that of the Crow Eaters. Capable of healing their allies and using the power of Faith as a weapon, the Zealots will be an insidious force multiplier in a fight with the Oxkiller Alliance.

  • Oxkiller Commanders - The pinnacle of the Oxkiller threat will be the deadly Commanders. Capable of buffing their allies, bolstering the line, and just being a deadly, capable fighter overall, the Commanders will be the brains of the Oxkiller attacks on Bravado.

Lifers of Prudence Penitentiary

Location: Prudence Penitentiary

Eyeless Jack, a Lifer of Killhouse Prison and known Nemesis of the Tellingvisionaries

The Lifers occupy one of the largest yet least populated areas of Prudence Penitentiary. Cell Block XXX is home to criminals determined to be too dangerous to be released. Each Lifer is different, yet all have embraced the violence and chaos of “Killhouse” Prison, either because it benefits them in some way to do so, or they are no longer able to function within the bounds of 'civilized society'. They are frequently incentivized to stay by way of gifts and praise, but are held in place by enormous tax debt they owe the Grave Council. Tabitha St. Mercy has tasked her Justices of Sin with maintaining their captivity during the year, as part of her contract with the San Saba Board.

Each year during the Indulgence, the Lifers are released from their captivity for a single day of freedom. At the end of the 24 hours, they either slink back to their cells in Killhouse or are forcibly dragged by the Law Dogs back to the waiting manacles of the Justices of Sin.

The Lifers are a unique threat released in Bravado during our October event. They are intelligent, Lineage threats with different motivations and goals, much like any other character. They are often armed with crafted equipment and can represent a very dangerous encounter for the unprepared.

Named Lifers are always portrayed by STs and Guides and are generally “killing blow active”, which means they can use deadly force against characters in the game.

The Longwalkers

Location: Widow’s Peak

Keywords: Unknown

The gallery of cryptids who, during the Long Night, stalk the darkness of Widow’s Peak. Some in search of prey, others absolution, most - with opaque motives. Are they strains gone mad in the blind eternity of the Long Night? Are they expressions of our terror made manifest in the chaos of sensory deprivation? Are they the Gravemind itself dreaming in the siesta between seasons? It depends on who you ask. Some Longwalkers have strange tells that indicate they are present. Water running backwards, the scent of rotten fruit, the sound of tinkling chimes. These mysterious entities stalk the Long Night looking for something. The No-Face Man, the Behemoth, the Gardener, the Shadow People, the Lady of the Long Night, and The Click - these figures sometimes derive from folktale and myth - and others are the inspiration for the same.

Some of these more extravagant or hard to physically represent creatures will likely never appear in an actual live game and will remain “off screen”, but the impact of their nearby presence may have an impact via Zones of Mechanics or other plot effects that involve Widow’s Peak and the Lovelace Family.

Leviathans

Location: Rarely seen everywhere, but most common in the Clutch and the Dune Sea

Keywords: Critter, Gargantuan, Megafauna

Massive megafauna are known to roam the wastes of the San Saba region.  Collectively named Leviathans, these massive creatures range in size from that of a small building to massive creatures that leave devastation in their wake.  In the Dune Sea, the Firebrand raiders hunt a large worm-like variant of the Leviathans, sometimes known as a Xeric Wurm.  In the Clutch, massive sea creatures lurk in the vast deep of the Inksea, and four-legged titans roam in the ruins of the Hiway War along the coastlines.  These creatures are not normally capable of being killed, but are simply avoided.  There are rumors that a leviathan more commonly known as the “lake monster” makes its home in the large lake near Bravado.
