THE INDULGENCE

After the Killhouse Massacre at Prudence Penitentiary, the Warden created the Indulgence, thus forever changing the Lone Star. The new foundational rule for the Penitentiary was that once a year the doors of the Penitentiary would open and allow the prisoners free reign on the Lone Star. During this free-for-all, they can escape, challenge a rival, or simply bunker down and hope for the best. In practice, some people die during the Indulgence, some people escape, but largely the status quo is maintained.

During this single day, all contracts across the San Saba Board are considered null and void and the laws of the region are not enforced for 24 hours. Traditionally, this is simply a time when new contracts are signed and updated for the coming year, but the Indulgence offers many opportunities to get out of poorly written contracts and evade consequences as a Breacher.

This “holiday” normally occurs during our October event each year, and it is a high-stakes, no quarter weekend inspired by films like The Purge. The threats will be more significant during this game, and powerful enemies will be encountered in the form of the Lifers - the dangerous inhabitants of the Triple XXX Wing of the prison.  While the daytime will involve many of the normal threats of a DR game, the nighttime will have intelligent, dangerous enemies that will be actively hunting people in the darkness.
